Our Objectives

The primary focus of the EDANN coalition is to establish a broad and inclusive national network that will provide the mechanism for communication nationally and across sectors that is essential for the development of a coordinated and evidence-based response to eating disorders.

The objectives of the coalition are to:

  1. Establish the infrastructure for a National Network of Organisations with an interest in eating disorders, body image and related issues that will facilitate national and cross-sector collaboration;
  2. Secure funding to support the National Network and Collaborative Projects;
  3. As part of the infrastructure for the National Network, convene two National Workshops for organisations and individuals with an interest in eating disorders, body image and related health issues;
  4. Share the existing information, resources and programs of partner organisations;
  5. Review existing evidence and information resources on eating disorders, body image and related health issues;
  6. Develop new information and health promotion resources in appropriate formats for practitioners, the media, schools and consumers;
  7. Develop and promote a coordinated community awareness and prevention campaign in collaboration with schools, the media and other relevant businesses, services and organisations;
  8. Maintain a website to act as a clearinghouse for research and information resources on eating disorders, body image and related health issues ensuring that up to date, accurate information about eating disorders is readily available on a national scale;
  9. Establish a national approach to prevention, identification and treatment of eating disorders including standards and guidelines for health promotion and the prevention of eating disorders and related conditions;
